Page Four THE BENNETT BANNER MAY, 1964 PSYCHOANALYSIS BY MAIL Dear Doctor Sisters, I am appalled at the thought of my dear friend, Bennett College, passing so rapidly away into death. I realize that Mr. B. C., as he is affectionately called, has been suf fering for a long time from the in ability to use his body due to a “traditional” ailment known as Statemate. (scientific term — aldo- fhywash — caused by retrogres sion of the body muscles.) But to find that his mind has snapped also is almost more than I can bear. Poor dear, Mr. B. C. is losing all his “facilities”. They have either just up and gone or rapidly leaving. I can understand, how ever, that he would be under ter rific mental strain. Sincerely Appalled. Dear Appalled, Mr. B. C. must first be shocked into reacting to his problem. This is known as shock therapy. After this treatment, it is suggested that you try psychobiology and instruct Mr. B. C. that it is important that he understand his problem both physiccil and psychological. After the nature of the emotion provok ing situation is identified, the thera pist suggests that the patient be helped to face the situation with out extreme motion. He must elimi nate all undesirable emotional re actions and trade them for NEW adjustment skills. It is my firm belief that he is suffering from apathy and de- lusio'ns of grandeur. Hoping that I have been of aid, I close, madam. Respectfully Yours, Sisters, Ph.D., and humanitarian Corresponding Secretary Andrea Mast REAL SHARP “Yes,” said the scissors grinder happily, “this has been my biggest year. I’ve never seen things so duU,” Learning is like mercury, one of the most powerful and excellent things in the world in skillful hands; in the unskillful, the most mischievous.
